Our Social Media Presence

Data Processing by Social Networks

We maintain publicly accessible profiles on social networks. The specific social networks we use are listed below. Social networks such as Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), etc., are generally able to comprehensively analyze your user behavior when you visit their websites or websites with integrated social media content (e.g., “Like” buttons or advertising banners). When you visit our social media profiles, a number of data protection–related processing activities are triggered.
In detail:
If you are logged into your social media account and visit our profile, the operator of the social media platform can associate this visit with your user account. However, your personal data may also be collected even if you are not logged in or do not have an account with the respective social media platform. In this case, data collection may occur, for example, through cookies stored on your device or by recording your IP address.
Using the data collected in this way, the operators of social media platforms can create user profiles that store your preferences and interests. This allows interest-based advertising to be displayed to you both within and outside of the respective social media platform. If you have an account on the social network, this interest-based advertising can be displayed on all devices on which you are or have been logged in.
Please also note that we cannot track all processing activities carried out by the social media platforms. Depending on the provider, additional data processing operations may be performed by the operators of the platforms. For details, please refer to the terms of use and privacy policies of the respective social media platforms.

Legal Basis

Our social media presence serves to ensure the broadest possible visibility of our company on the internet. This constitutes a legitimate interest within the meaning of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The data analysis processes initiated by the social networks may be based on different legal grounds, which must be specified by the operators of the respective social networks (e.g., consent within the meaning of Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Controller and Exercise of Rights

When you visit one of our social media profiles (e.g., on Facebook), we are jointly responsible with the operator of the social media platform for the data processing operations triggered during your visit. You may exercise your rights (access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint) both against us and against the operator of the respective social media platform (e.g., Facebook).
Please note, however, that despite the joint responsibility with the social media platform operators, we do not have full control over the data processing operations carried out by the social media platforms. Our ability to influence these processes is largely determined by the corporate policies of the respective providers.

Storage Period

The data that we directly collect via our social media presence will be deleted from our systems as soon as you request us to do so, withdraw your consent to storage, or the purpose for data storage no longer applies. Cookies stored on your device remain there until you delete them. Mandatory statutory provisions—particularly retention periods—remain unaffected.
We have no influence over the duration for which your data is stored by the operators of social networks for their own purposes. For details, please refer directly to the privacy policies of the respective social network operators (see below).

Your Rights

You have the right at any time to obtain free information about the origin, recipients, and purpose of your stored personal data. You also have the right to object, the right to data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority. Furthermore, you may request the rectification, blocking, or deletion of your personal data, and under certain circumstances, the restriction of its processing.
